The Sultanate of Oman - economic opportunities for German enterprises

On March 27, 2012 a conference took place at the Hanns-Seidel Foundation in Munich. Dr. Salem Bin Nasser Al Ismaily, Chairman of the Public Authorities for Investment Promotion and Export Development (PAIPED) promoted investments by German companies.

The event was organized by the Bavarian Association of Bavarian Industry and the German Arabic Friendship Association (DAFG).

The German Omani Association (Deutsch-Omanische Gesellschaft)  presentd the exhibition "The Sultanate of Oman: A Modern Society with Tradition" in the foyer; distributed the brochure "Religious Tolerance: Islam in the Sultanate of Oman" and a copy of the documentary film on religious tolerance by the award-winning producer Wolfgang Ettlich to the more than 100 high-level political figures and business leaders.

Dr. Otto Wiesheu, former Bavarian minister of economy and current president of the DAFG,  supplemented the remarks of Dr. Salem Bin Nasser Al Ismaily, with reference to Oman's development in the last 40 years and its current perspectives for the development of its economy in the coming years. Mr. Karl Wimmer, Managing Director of the company Europoles described the positive experiences at his production facility in Nizwa.

In closing, Mr. Georg Popp, Secretary-General of the German Omani Association, reported on its activities and informed the guests of the sharp rise in the number of Omani students studying in Germany
