The Bavarian Minister Dr. Beate Merk visited the Sultanate of Oman from 22 to 23 February 2017. She held talks in Oman's capital Muscat with members of the government as well as with German economic representatives. Apart from questions of cooperation in the fields of economics, science and health, the Minister also informed herself about the social development of the country and the experiences in intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
The exchange of views with the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Salmi, was therefore of special interest. At the request of the Minister, he agreed to the reintroduction of the exhibition "Tolerance, Understanding and Coexistence - Oman's Message of Islam" in autumn 2017 in Bavaria.
The minister also visited the Ahmad bin Majid School, in the presence of General Secretary Georg Popp, and informed herself about the student exchange program with the Sabel Realschule in Munich initiated and sponsored by the German-Omani Association since 2010.
